Inebriation!

Despite my initial spell of not going out, and actually lasting a whole 7 days without a drop of alcohol, the last few weeks have seen a few crazy drunken nights out.... Firstly St Patricks Day was of course celebrated in style here in Wien having, as all large cities do, a large number of Irish pubs. We spent the night at Molly Darcy's on Teinfaltstrasse, where green beers were the speciality of the night!

I wore as much green as possible, green sequined dress from River Island, and green shoes from Lola shoes.

Monday 21st March... was, ahem, a rather drunked evening of wine drinking and tequila shots at the Ride club- a popular place with WU and Erasmus students in Wien. Possibly the most drunk I have been in years!

Outfit wise I was wearing a blue sparkly top from Cow, Nottingham, black bandau dress from H&M, and I filled my pandora necklace with charms for ultimate effect!

My favourite Viennese shopping area!

Wednesday 24th March... Vienna is a shoppers paradise for all those that love antiques, one offs, designer, forward thinking, and vintage: furniture, clothes and Jewellery.... shops which supply these are in abundance here! And thus, I am in heaven! Yesterday I went on a hunt for the highly recommended Humana store on the Lerchenfelder Strasse, and stumbled accross a few other gems on the way!! My favourite being the Galerie St Urich, tucked away on the corner of Neustiftgasse, this gorgeous shop sells the most lovely second hand wares all beautifully displayed but still highly accessable. The owner was lovely and appeared not to mind my exclamations of amazment at some of the lovely and unique things she had on sale. I ended up leaving the shop with a very old pink teddy, which since is stuffed with straw, the owner suggested meant she is around 100 years old or so! And, a lovely knitted white top with handpainted flowers on it. Special purchases I think...

In all, Viennese shopping is perfect for those who like to rummage through for hidden treasures!

Above, and left: treasures in the Galerie St Urich. Especially loving the pink satin and diamante gown (150 euros).

Humana.... These are second hand shops which can be found around Vienna. However, the Lerchenfelder Strasse branch is unique in that all the best vintage and 'on trend' clothes are sent to this branch. vienna.unlike says: "Bargain budget clothes horses know where to get their fix. The Humana on Lechenfelderstrasse has got the good stuff: a well edited selection of vintage and 2nd hand items that are at times a few steps ahead of trend cycles. What else could you ask for from a second hand charity chain store? Go there and be the first to get something one of a kind and special, at a price that won’t break you."

And they were right... I had a rather fun afternoon whiling away the time trying SO many things on! I left with just one pair of trousers, which of everything I felt were the one thing I could least live without. They are complete one offs and will require some bravery to pull off since they are high waisted, see through chiffon with small shorts to cover modesty! But they are gorgeous!!!!

Special Mention! I found the most brilliant Salvador Dali jacket... v tempted to buy, but at 36 euros, and with such an outlandish pattern I did need to a think! May be back...

Flohmarkt, rugby watching, the start of the Easter Markets, and a lovely summer like evening in Wien...

Saturday 20th March and as usual I cant resist the pull of the flohmarkt which just gets better every week as the weather improves. This week I was far too hot in my winter coat and jumper combo since the sun was blissfully out. The crowds were also out in full force this week and I didnt stay long. Still, I managed to bag myself some beautiful lace which I plan to attach to a t-shirt, or brooch together and wear as a necklace; some beautiful buttons, a lovely pink rope belt, a very summery yellow jumper, pink silky top (which most likely should only be worn as a pj top but we will see), and a beautiful peach and green scarf. All together I spent 9.50 euros. Not bad going. I also spotted the coolest girl ever!!! She was wearing a trench with a white and bleached green scarf, geek classes, some furry shoes, and a shaved head! I tried to secretly take some pics of her... you will see her lurking about in a few pics!

The lace stall this week was even better than ever and once again I could have spent all day there searching through the piles and piles of scraps of old lace. This week she had a lovely hat with a black and white picture of a lady wearing it perhaps in the 1940's (see above top pic).

That pink top is distinctly shiny!!!!!

By afternoon I supprted my Welsh friend Rachel in her wish to watch the Six Nations rugy Wales v Italy match and we decended to Charlie P's and began the drinking with peach spritzers at 2.30pm!!! To watch the match in style I donned my good old fav the bobble jumper, Jacket from H&M, leggins from France, my new flohmarkt scarf and satchel from ebay:

Rocking the air hostess look with that scarf, and definately in need of a haircut by Arabella at the White Room next time im in Notts... Liz......

After the match and all that afternoon drinking we went on a walk around town on a search for somewhere to eat and continue the drinking. It was a lovely evening with a distinct summer like feel in the air. Yesterday was also the start of the Easter Markets here in Wien so I got some pics of of the Market near the Rathaus.

Die Fledermaus...

Friday 19th March saw myself and two other British exchange students Rachel and Abi injecting some culture into our week with a visit to the famous Die Fledermaus ballet which has been peformed at the Theater an der Wien since it premiered on the 5th April 1874. Paying only 8 euros for our tickets (in comparison to the most expensive seats in the house which were 130 euros) we sometimes missed some of the show, but the atmosphere and glamour of the evening was lovely nethertheless.

What I wore: Dress, H&M, Waistcost: Big Joes Gang-Shop, Vienna, Shoes, vintage shop Brick Lane, Bag, Gap, Earrings, Jackie Brazil.
